Today I wanted to run you guys through my easy 5-minute makeup routine. I do these steps every morning unless I have a date night or a fun event later in the evening. If that’s the case, I throw on some sunscreen and do my more polished 10-minute make-up routine during naps (I promise to show you this another time). The idea behind this routine is to freshen up my face when I got out in public for a day with the kids (basically at the park, library or art class).
Another thing I wanted to point out is that I do think it helps to have a routine in place. I’m all about anything that makes my life more streamlined so I’m not wasting mental time or energy. And this makeup routine definitely helps with that. I love knowing exactly what makeup I need to throw on and how long it takes me to do so. Over the last few months, I’ve tested different variations of products & application steps to understand what I need to apply to look like my best self. So note to self: your routine won’t look the same as mine but I would recommend having one to make your life easier.
Here is my 5-Minute Makeup Routine in a nutshell:
Step 1: CC Cream, Concealer & Primer
I start by covering up my skin to give it a more consistent color. My CC Cream is great for that because it is very lightweight and contains some illumination to give the skin a little boost. I cover up the dark circles under my eyes (hello motherhood) and any redness with a little concealer. I’m not totally sold on the concealer I’m using, so would love to hear if you have one that you love! I also apply primer to my eyelids so my eyeshadow will stay put throughout the day. This has made a huge difference in keeping the look all day long.
Step 2: Setting Powder
I even out the skin & finish it with the setting powder.
Step 3: Bronzer
I’m super pale so bronzer is a necessary step for me. I don’t try to do any fancy Kardashian contouring application. I just add a little color where the sun would hit me: the top of my forehead, hollows of my cheekbones and the bridge of my nose.
Step 4: Blush
I’m a Southern girl – so this is my favorite part of the routine. I’m obsessed with this creamy blush from Bobbi Brown – it is everything.
Step 5: Eyebrows
The single most important part of my whole routine. If I leave off eyebrows I definitely notice a difference in the way I look. I have played around with all sorts of eyebrow products but I keep coming back to Anastasia Brow Wiz because looks natural and is easy to apply.
Step 6: Eyeshadow
By now my eyeshadow primer is soaked in. I use the same Urban Decay eye-shadow color every day. It’s a favorite of many celebrity make-up artists. A quick swipe on either lash and I’m done.
Step 7: Eyeliner
I hate applying eyeliner…it takes up a ton of time in my quick and easy routine…but I always look way more awake when I apply it. Oh well! Because of my eye shape, I do apply it top of each eye-lid and in my water line.
Step 8: Mascara
I’ve tried so many mascaras but I keep going back to this drugstore one. Cheap and good quality = win-win!
Step 9: Setting Spray
Finally, I do a few quick sprays of this setting spray and call it a day!

Also, I’m definitely not a beauty blogger so my application process might be completely wrong. My amazing friend, Claire, does makeup for a living and she is incredible. Check her out if you need to find inspiration or more tips! XO
