My evening skincare routine: products & details

evening skincare routine

Skincare has always been somewhat overwhelming to me. With the variety of options available and the ever-changing recommendations from influencers, I found it hard to land on my tried-and-true routine. Since I entered my thirties, I have focused on prevention of fine lines and skin correction. I’m getting there. Most of the treatment products I love happen during the nighttime process. So today I’m sharing what my evening skincare routine looks like including the products I use and the order in which I use them.

My evening skincare routine

Let’s break it down:

Cleansing |

In the cleansing department, I keep it simple with Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser. I use this face wash in the morning too which I keep a second bottle of in my shower. It’s cheap and effective. After washing, I take a reusable cotton pad (bought mine on Amazon) and I wipe off all the remaining make-up with Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. It’s amazing what this product removes even after a decent wash. Once my skin dries, I have a blank canvas to start with.

Toning |

After I cleanse, I always tone. I recently purchased the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence during the Sephora sale. I’ve been curious about it for a while but it was so expensive I never bit the bullet. It pains me to say…but it’s worth the splurge. My skin is baby-soft after using it and I think it is changing the texture of my skin. (I’ll report back once I have more data). After this product soaks in, my face feels glassy and ready to soak up the products that come next.

Eyes |

The next step is my eye cream. I am currently using Tatcha Silk Peony. This was another Sephora sale purchase. It is decadent and creamy. I have had the hardest time finding an eye cream I love. Just me? I enjoyed this one in the past but didn’t repurchase. Kiehl’s Avocado Eye Cream is next on my list.

Serums & Retinols |

My current duo is Drunk Elephant TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum which is a gentle lactic acid treatment + Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Face Oil . I put 1 squirt of serum and 3 drops of the face oil in my palm, mix them together and pat into my skin.

2-3x per week it helps to add in a retinol. I’m not currently using one since I ran out. A few I have used in the past and liked: Sunday Riley A+ & Peter Thomas Roth Retionl Fusion.

On the days you don’t use a retinol, I would finish off my routine with a nutrient-dense serum. My favorite so far: Midnight Recovery from Kiehl’s. Next on my list to try is Vintner’s Daughter – a fan favorite.

Moisture |

If my skin is feeling very dry, I cap my routine off with this light moisturizer, Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre. I give the serum + oil combo proper time to soak in so I use this right before I go to bed. It’s a cult-classic French pharmacy find and I buy it off Amazon.

Treatments & Masks |

Finally, I like to do a face mask every Sunday. I switch it up depending on what I want to treat. These are a few of my favorites: T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial, Bliss Might Marshmallow, Clarins V-Facial Intensive Wrap, & DetoxifEYE eye patches.

So there you have it. I’ll be sharing more over on the my Instagram stories this week so you can see the process in action. Please let me know if you have any questions in the comments below or shoot me an email here. I hope you found this helpful! XO
